Back at Work: New Year’s Resolutions

Here we are, diving headfirst into another year packed with possibilities, growth, and all the good stuff. And you know what that means – resolutions! It's like our annual tradition of setting intentions to level up our professional game, whether it's unleashing the productivity ninja within, conquering the delicate art of work-life balance, or adding some new skills to our toolkit.

But hey, we get it – life throws curveballs, priorities do the cha-cha, and unexpected challenges show up like uninvited guests at a party. So, if you find yourself doing a little dance away from those shiny resolutions you set, don't sweat it. Resolutions are more of a scenic route than a straight-shot highway, right?

At your company, it’s all about embracing the zigzags and unexpected detours on the road to success. Instead of feeling down in the dumps, think of it as a chance to recalibrate. Take a beat, reflect on what truly lights your professional and personal fire, and tweak those resolutions to match your evolving vibe.

To sprinkle a bit of extra mojo on your journey, try out new activities like workshops and events throughout the year. Think skill development, well-being vibes, and tips for juggling work and play like a pro. And guess what? Popular this year will be mentorship program full of wisdom and inspiration as you navigate your own career rollercoaster.

Remember, each new day is a fresh start, and this year is your canvas to splash with colors of resilience, flexibility, and team spirit. Let's make 2024 the year where we collectively crush it – both in our personal and professional zones.

Wishing you a year filled with exciting detours, surprising twists, and heaps of success and fulfillment. Cheers to 2024!

You can’t make this stuff up

(*Disclaimer: these are real experiences provided by RME's community of job seekers and hiring managers)

"Last year I applied for an engineering position with a well-known multinational organization. First interview was virtual, second interview was in person at one of the company’s regional facilities. At the 2nd interview I received a “homework” to establish if two items currently purchased can be manufactured in house. This is work that generally engineers spend months to prepare in real world. A consultant would have charged hundreds or thousands of dollars for the same work.

I spent over 20 hours of work at home, prepared a presentation document of over 30 pages and e-mailed to the hiring manager. Did not hear anything for a few weeks. I e-mailed someone in HR and I raised the issue of no communication as being disrespectful towards job applicants. After this e-mail, hiring manager e-mailed me that he has been on vacation (really!?) and will get back to me shortly. This never happened. Consequently, I informed through an e-mail the organization’s country CEO about how job applicants at his organization are treated (disrespect and lack of professionalism). Hopefully he did something about it.”
