Generating your Lead Story…
A Quick LinkedIn Fix That Makes Job Searching Easier
If you’re job searching right now, you already know LinkedIn can be one of the best tools you have. It’s where recruiters post roles, hiring managers share updates, and companies quietly signal growth before positions even hit the job boards. But it can also become overwhelming fast—especially when your feed starts filling up with content that has nothing to do with your career goals.
That’s why I wanted to share a simple PSA that I personally didn’t know for way too long: LinkedIn gives you the option to reduce political content in your feed. It’s not a big announcement, and most people never notice it, but it can make a huge difference in how useful LinkedIn feels day-to-day.
Here’s how to do it:
Go to Settings & Privacy
Click Feed / Content Preferences
Find the option for Political content, and toggle it off (or reduce it). That’s it. Your feed instantly feels cleaner and more focused.
That’s it. Your feed instantly feels cleaner and more focused.
Now, just to be clear, this isn’t about saying politics don’t matter. They do. This is about protecting your attention during a time when you need it the most. Job searching already comes with enough pressure: uncertainty, long wait times, ghosting, rejection, and the emotional ups and downs of putting yourself out there repeatedly. When you log into LinkedIn to take action on your career, the last thing you need is a feed that drains your energy before you’ve even started.
A cleaner feed helps you stay focused on what you actually came to LinkedIn for: hiring updates, networking opportunities, industry insights, career growth, and real business conversations that can lead to interviews. It’s not just about “saving time.” It’s about staying in the right mindset to show up consistently, because consistency is what wins in a competitive job market.
If your feed feels noisy or stressful, it becomes harder to do the small actions that compound over time—commenting on the right posts, reaching out to new connections, following up on conversations, and staying visible to the people who can actually help you. But when your feed supports your goals, LinkedIn becomes less of a distraction and more of a career tool again.
If you want to take this one step further, here’s a quick challenge:
Spend five minutes cleaning up your feed today.
Reduce political content, unfollow accounts that don’t add value, and start following companies you’d love to work for and recruiters who specialize in your space.
You don’t need to change your entire strategy—just improve your environment so the platform works for you instead of against you.
Less noise leads to more focus. More focus leads to better actions. And better actions lead to better outcomes.

You can’t make this stuff up

“Hi Matthew,
Thanks for the time earlier this month talking interview strategies. Took alot of notes and I've referenced them before every interview. Definitely has helped.
Have one offer in hand and am expecting another by EOW.”
