The Hiring Process… or an April Fools’ Day Joke?

Every year on April 1st, we laugh at jokes, pranks, and things that feel just a little too ridiculous to be real. But if you’ve applied for a job recently… you know this:

The hiring process itself might be the biggest April Fools’ joke of all. Not because people are trying to be misleading but because what companies say and what they actually do are often completely misaligned. And candidates notice.

Company: I see you have a 3-month gap on your resume. Can you explain that?
Candidate: I see this role’s been open for 3 months. Can you explain that?

Company: We want someone who takes initiative.
Candidate: I know… I applied to your posting.

Company: We expect attention to detail.
Candidate: Noted—like the job description with all the spelling errors?

Company: We’re looking for someone proactive.
Candidate: Great. I proactively applied 6 weeks ago. What happened?

Company: We’re very selective.
Candidate: Same—that’s why I’m asking questions too.

Company: We move fast here.
Candidate: Amazing. I was ready to start 5 interviews ago.

Company: We need someone who communicates clearly.
Candidate: Perfect. I followed up twice.

This is the hiring process… in a nutshell. The real issue isn’t the joke — it’s the pattern. At first glance, this is funny. But underneath the humor is something more important: A pattern of misalignment. Companies are holding candidates to a standard they’re not consistently meeting themselves.

They expect:

  • Speed

  • Clarity

  • Preparation

  • Follow-through

But the candidate experience often looks like:

  • Delays

  • Silence

  • Confusion

  • Endless steps

And that gap? That’s where trust breaks down.

What This Actually Means

This isn’t just about frustration, it’s about perception. Every interaction in the hiring process is a signal:

How you communicate = how you operate
How you move = how you make decisions
How you treat candidates = how you treat employees

So when the experience feels inconsistent, candidates start asking, “Is this what it’s like to work here?”

And the best ones don’t wait around to find out.

At the end of the day, the hiring process isn’t broken because of one bad step. It’s broken because of consistent misalignment between what companies expect and what they deliver. Candidates are paying attention to every interaction, using it to judge how an organization truly operates, not just what it claims. When there’s a gap between words and actions, trust erodes and the best talent moves on. The takeaway is simple: hiring is no longer just about assessing candidates, it’s about creating an experience that reflects your standards, your culture, and your credibility from the very first touchpoint.

You can’t make this stuff up

Experts Would Invest $100,000 in This Alternative Now

A new Knight Frank report made an unexpected declaration. It revealed that 44% of family offices are investing more in residential real estate now. And, you don’t need to be Warren Buffet to see why.

Since 2000, residential real estate outperformed the S&P 500 by 70% in total returns. It’s the only asset that pays you to own it, grows while you sleep, and shields your gains from the IRS.

That’s why you need mogul. It’s a real estate platform that lets you invest in institutional-grade rental properties. You get monthly rental income, capital appreciation and tax benefits without a down payment or 3 a.m. tenant calls. In fact, over 20,000 investors have joined.

Here’s Why:

• Tax Benefits

• +7% annual yields

• 18.8% avg annual IRR

TLDR: You can invest in high quality real estate for a fraction of the cost. Why wait?
