Generating your Lead Story…

2024: A New Year and a New Career!

As we embark on a new year, it's an opportune time to refine our career strategies and set the stage for success in 2024. Whether you're actively job hunting or seeking advancement in your current role, consider these holistic approaches to enhance your professional journey.

Begin by revisiting and revitalizing your professional brand. Update your resume and LinkedIn profile to reflect your latest achievements, skills, and experiences. Craft a compelling narrative that succinctly communicates your unique value proposition to potential employers.

Continuous learning is key to staying competitive in today's dynamic job market. Invest in upskilling and professional development opportunities that align with your career goals. Attend workshops, webinars, or enroll in courses to acquire new skills or deepen existing ones, demonstrating your commitment to ongoing growth.

Strategic networking remains a powerful tool for career advancement. Actively engage with industry peers, join professional groups, and attend events to expand your network. Establishing meaningful connections can provide valuable insights, mentorship, and even uncover hidden job opportunities.

In the ever-evolving landscape of virtual work, prepare for virtual interviews by familiarizing yourself with video conferencing tools, creating a professional virtual environment, and practicing effective communication. Showcase your soft skills—such as adaptability, collaboration, and communication—in both your applications and interviews, as employers increasingly value these qualities.

As we embrace the opportunities of a new year, let's commit to a proactive and strategic approach to our careers. Wishing you a year filled with professional growth and success.

"I just went through a 3 round interview recently with a company that had me create an e-learning presentation as my final round. It took me over 10 hours to create the interactive e-learning. They loved me in person in the 2nd round, and then my father was hospitalized at 76 with covid and our family dog had cancer and had to be put down the night before I presented for my final round. I was slightly disconnected for obvious reasons and even emailed the hiring manager the day after and politely and respectfully shared to be transparent what I had been through the night before. No human kindness, no response to my unfortunate family emergencies. This was one of the biggest waste of my time in 10 years of job searching. I do not want to seem negative since I keep getting interviews and do well, but these situations with wasting more than 10 hours of my time was beyond disrespectful in my professional opinion. All of these companies should be called out in some way so they discontinue this unfairness.”
